FAQs

  1. How is the work made?
  2. What do I do with it?
  3. Can I commission pieces?
  4. Where can I buy one?

1) How is it made?

The pieces are made using adapter slip casting techniques, allowing the porcelain to build up in very fine layers. The different fastenings, such as the pins and the paperclips, are added before the firing process and are fired with the pieces. All the details on the pieces such as the piercing, crumpling and gold leafing are all done individually by hand, creating truly unique pieces.

2) What can I do with it?

A lot of people buy pieces for their aesthetic value, however some of the pieces with larger bases can fit a tea light inside them to create a lit centre piece. I would recommend using the battery powered tea lights as they are safer and there is no chance of sooty smoke effects. Pieces also look very effective on a windowsill with natural sunlight shining through them. Porcelain is a wonderfully translucent material and there are many ways of taking advantage of this.

My new range will incorporate wall based pieces

3) Can I commision pieces?

Of course! I am more than happy to work to commission for you. Many people see a piece they like but would prefer a different size or they want it personalised or with added detail. For examples of previous commissions please see the Gallery. To obtain a no obligation quote, please fill in your details on the contact form, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
